AT&T Launches WiMAX High Speed Internet Service in AnchorageNew Technology Gives Anchorage Residents a New Choice for Internet ServiceANCHORAGE, Alaska, August 22, 2008 - AT&T (NYSE:T) has launched a compelling new WiMAX-based broadband Internet service for Anchorage residents. The service is currently available in select neighborhoods and will be rolled out to the majority of the city by the end of the summer. Anchorage residents can choose from four AT&T High Speed Internet service packages, with downstream and upstream Internet access speeds of up to 2 Mbps. Service packages also include five e-mail accounts, 20MB of storage for personal Web sites, and the ability to access the Internet from multiple locations within the service's range. Prices start at $19.95 a month when WiMAX is included in a bundle with local and long distance phone service. "AT&T is fully committed to delivering the benefits of broadband Internet service as widely as possible," said Mike Felix, president of AT&T Alascom. "Our deployment of high speed Internet service in Anchorage is the result an ongoing commitment to development and deployment of advanced broadband technologies." Alaska has played a key role in AT&T's overall efforts to develop broadband technologies, with initial deployments of fixed wireless broadband in Aniak, Delta Junction and Petersburg paving the way for today's expanded deployment plans. The new service uses WiMAX wireless technology, which enables delivery of broadband services to homes and small businesses with speeds that are similar to landline technologies such as DSL.
