AT&T Makes Its Largest-Ever Donations in Alaska

Support For Statehood Events Will Bring Celebration to Alaskans Statewide

ANCHORAGE, Alaska June 20, 2008 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced donations totaling $220,000 to three local organizations to support events commemorating the 50th anniversary of Alaska statehood.

The AT&T Foundation donated $90,000 to the University of Alaska Foundation, $65,000 to Alaska Pubic Television Inc. and $45,000 to Koahnic Broadcast Corp. AT&T in Alaska added an additional $20,000 to the University of Alaska Foundation contribution, bringing that total to $110,000.

"These donations support the use of technology to connect people across Alaska as they celebrate statehood - a unique way to preserve the state's heritage while looking ahead to the future," said Mike Felix, president, AT&T Alascom.

The three organizations receiving the donations are collaborating to create a series of events and broadcasts that are part of a larger University of Alaska project entitled "Eight Stars of Gold: Fostering a Spirit of Civic Engagement in Modern Alaska." The programs of all three organizations are being planned to complement each other and reach out to a wide audience. They will include student and public forums, diverse public radio programming, podcasts, and co-produced Web sites.

"The University of Alaska will host a technology rich Forum of Young Alaskans to debate the most important issues facing our state," said UA President Mark Hamilton. "With AT&T's support, this forum is expected to open up new venues of communication for Alaska's youth and help raise awareness about the importance of getting active and involved." Five hundred young people will participate in the forum from hubs across the state, as well as via interactive technologies like blogs, social networks, and video exchange.

Alaska Public Telecommunications Inc. (APTI) and Koahnic Broadcast Corp. plan to create a series of programs for television, radio and the Internet related to the many facets of Alaska's 50-year statehood anniversary.

"With 25 member radio stations around the state and one television station, we will be able to reach more than 96 percent of Alaskan communities," said Steve Lindbeck, president and CEO, APTI. "With such broad reach across three separate media platforms - television, radio and the Internet - we will be able to bring content such as ongoing news coverage of statehood events to all Alaskans and audio and video postcards."

"Through the multi-media reach of the project, audiences anywhere in the world will be able to join Alaskans in celebrating our state's successes, learning from our mistakes, and reflecting on how far we've come in 50 years," said Jaclyn Sallee, president and CEO, Koahnic Broadcast Corp. "We will also look ahead to what the future may hold for Alaska."
