(NYSE:T) today announced that the 2008 First National Cup state hockey championships will be broadcast live on http://www.att.com/alascom. Two games will be streamed Saturday, Feb. 9: The Greatland championship game at 5:15 p.m. and the 4A championship game at 8 p.m. "The Alaska School Activities Association does a tremendous job supporting youth sports in Alaska," said Gov. Sarah Palin. "I'm delighted that the broadcast of the Alaska state high school hockey championships will make it possible for Alaskans away from home, including those serving in the U.S. armed forces, to have the opportunity to see these games." "AT&T is happy to offer its technology to deliver the Alaska state high school championship hockey games to the widest audience possible," said Mike Felix, president, AT&T in Alaska. The webcast is made possible through a relationship with the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA). AT&T has long been an enthusiastic supporter of ASAA because of the unique contributions ASAA makes to supporting youth athletics in Alaska. "AT&T continues to step up to help ASAA support Alaska's youth," said Gary Matthews, executive director of ASAA. "By broadcasting the hockey championships and other key sporting events, the families and friends of our athletes are able to be a part of activities and events that are meaningful to all of the participants." AT&T hosted live Web coverage of several other significant community events in 2007. "We were able to offer live coverage for all of the Anchorage high school graduations last year," said Felix. "In addition, we broadcast the Alaska state football championship games and the military welcome-home ceremony. These broadcasts have been viewed by thousands of people, showing that the community responds to the opportunity to participate in events live via the Web." In addition to streaming the hockey games live, AT&T will keep a link to the coverage active on its Web site after the championship is over.
