AT&T Alascom Invites the Community to Holiday Tree-Lighting ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Nov. 19, 2007 - An evening of holiday fun awaits Anchorage at the 2007 AT&T Alascom Holiday Tree-Lighting Ceremony. AT&T Alascom is a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T). Local celebrities - human, feathered and furry - will come together to kick off the season in style Friday, Nov. 23, at 5:30 p.m. in Town Square Park. "All of Anchorage is invited to join in this festive event," said Mike Felix, president, AT&T Alascom. "It promises to be an evening full of entertainment, special appearances and refreshments, all topped off with the lighting of the holiday tree." "This annual event is a tradition that Anchorage can be proud of," said Mayor Mark Begich. "It is a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season with our families, friends and neighbors. AT&T Alascom and the Anchorage Downtown Partnership have created a wonderful celebration to bring people together." The fun begins with performances by the Salvation Army Brass Band and the Anchorage Concert Chorus. Next, master of ceremonies John Tracy of KTUU's Channel 2 News will be joined by: Begich and first lady Deborah Bonito; Mike Felix and his sidekick, Myles the Goose; Becky Beck, executive director of the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, and her pal Buzz the Bear. Mayor Begich will read his annual holiday proclamation, followed by entertainment provided by the Yup'ik holiday singers. Next up will be Sourdough Story Time, followed by the highly anticipated arrival of Santa and his reindeer, along with special guest Smokey the Bear. The event's grand finale will come when Santa and Smokey the Bear light the holiday tree, which will cast a festive multicolor glow over Town Square Park and downtown Anchorage.
