AT&T Alascom to Deliver the Holidays Early to Government Hill

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Nov. 16, 2007 - AT&T Alascom, a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), will once again light the sky over Anchorage's Government Hill neighborhood for the holiday season.

At 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, students from Government Hill Elementary School will flip the breaker switches to illuminate the 157-foot tree that sits atop AT&T Alascom's 250-foot communication tower. Fourteen students in hard hats will each flip a switch that lights up one of the 14 strands of bulbs that illuminate Government Hill for the holidays.

The festivities begin with an assembly at which each student's name is placed in a bucket depending on what grade the student is in. Then, two students from each grade are randomly selected to be that year's official tree-lighters. After the names are drawn, all of the students make the short walk to the tower. The lucky 14 are invited into a fenced area to flip the tree's light switches.

"We enjoy being part of the Government Hill neighborhood, and this is one way we can share in the spirit of the holiday season with everyone here in the community," said Mike Felix, president, AT&T Alascom.

The tree, designed and built by AT&T Alascom employees, features 850 amber, yellow and green light bulbs. The annual tree-lighting is a 17-year tradition for AT&T Alascom and the Government Hill community.

"Our students look forward to the tree-lighting with great excitement every year," said Brian Singleton, principal, Government Hill Elementary. "AT&T Alascom sponsors us through the School Business Partnership program. They do a lot for our school, with the annual tree-lighting ceremony being one of the most eagerly anticipated events."
