AT&T ALASCOM DELIVERS NEW BROADBAND INTERNET CHOICE FOR JUNEAU

New WiMAX-Based High Speed Internet Service Available Today in Multiple Juneau Neighborhoods

Additional Alaska Service Deployments Planned for 2008

JUNEAU, Alaska, Aug. 6, 2007 - AT&T Alascom, a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), has announced the availability of a compelling new WiMAX-based broadband Internet service for Juneau residents.

The Juneau service launch is the first in a planned statewide initiative to expand the reach of broadband Internet services in communities throughout Alaska by using advanced WiMAX technology. This technology will provide a new competitive choice and will enable many residents to take advantage of the benefits of high speed Internet services for the first time.

Residents in several Juneau neighborhoods, including Downtown, Douglas, Lena Point and the Mendenhall Valley, can now choose from three AT&T Alascom High Speed Internet service packages, with downstream and upstream Internet access speeds of up to 1 Mbps. Service packages also include up to five e-mail accounts, 20MB for personal Web sites and the ability to access the Internet from multiple locations within the service's range. Prices start at $19.95 a month.

The new service is a result of AT&T Alascom's ongoing commitment to develop new and emerging technologies that enable Alaska residents to take full advantage of the latest communications services and capabilities. Alaska has played a key role in AT&T's overall efforts to develop wireless broadband technologies, with initial deployments of WiMAX-based technology in Aniak, Delta Junction and Petersburg paving the way for today's expanded deployment plans.

"AT&T Alascom is fully committed to deliver the benefits of broadband Internet service as widely as possible," said Mike Felix, president of AT&T Alascom. "Our deployment of WiMAX-based high speed Internet service in Juneau is the result of years of research into new-generation broadband technologies that are well-suited for deployment in challenging environments such as Alaska. Today, those efforts enable us to deliver a compelling new broadband choice for thousands of Alaskans, including many who have previously not had access to high speed Internet service."

AT&T Alascom plans to expand service availability in Juneau later this year and roll out the service in additional Alaskan communities in 2008. Details on expanded rollout plans will be announced later this year.

Commitment to Broadband Innovation

The new service uses WiMAX wireless technology, which enables delivery of broadband services to homes and small businesses with speeds that are similar to landline technologies such as DSL. With a range of up to several miles from a central tower, WiMAX technology is emerging as an alternative broadband solution for a range of locations where deployment of landline-based technologies is impractical or impossible.

Initial deployments of WiMAX technology in Alaska will be used to provide portable wireless broadband for home and business-based access and will enable users to plug in to the service at multiple home or work locations within the service's range. As mobile WiMAX technology advances, the company will evaluate options to enable additional roaming and mobility service options for customers.

AT&T is the nation's leading provider of high speed Internet services, with more than 13.3 million high speed Internet customers. The company also is playing a leading role in the development of technologies that expand the reach of broadband to customers in rural, remote or difficult-to-serve areas, many of which have no high speed Internet or cable broadband services today. AT&T has supported a total of 22 fixed wireless trials and limited deployments in U.S communities to date, eight of which are active commercial deployments today. The company also offers satellite-based broadband options to rural customers in many areas of the U.S.

The company's deployments of WiMAX and other emerging wireless broadband technologies across the nation provide opportunities to evaluate various solutions under a number of conditions, using both licensed and unlicensed spectrum, and including both rural and urban settings. Outside Alaska, AT&T will evaluate opportunities to deploy fixed wireless technologies in other areas of the country based on customer needs and the results of its existing deployments.

AT&T Alascom is using equipment from Alvarion Ltd. for the Alaskan deployments.
