AT&T Alascom to sponsor "Trends in WiMAX technology" presentation

ANCHORAGE, AK (October 2, 2006) — AT&T Alascom is hosting a presentation on "Trends in WiMAX technology" at the 2006 Alaska IT Expo, featuring Irwin Gerszberg, AT&T Labs Director of Local Network Technology from Middletown, New Jersey.

Gerszberg, who joined AT&T Bell Systems in 1978, was named an AT&T Fellow in 2004 for his local access technologies and architectures expertise. He was the recipient of the 2001 AT&T Science and Technology medal and in 2002 was named "New Jersey Inventor of the Year". He holds more than 80 patents with the U.S. Patent Office.

Gerszberg's presentation will cover current trends in WiMAX technology and applications for WiMAX in solving "last mile" access issues. He will also discuss future applications for WiMAX technology in the delivery of satellite TV, CE quality voice telephony and other technologies.
