AT&T Alascom Provides High Speed Internet Service at New Aniak Training Center

ANCHORAGE, AK (October 3, 2006) - A new training center opening in Aniak will provide technology instruction to residents of the Interior Rivers area of western Alaska. To support the new center, AT&T Alascom is providing high speed wireless Internet access in the new facility.

"Bringing high speed Internet access to rural Alaska is a key focus of AT&T Alascom," said Mike Felix, president of AT&T Alascom. "Connecting to the world at high speed allows rural residents to more fully participate in the global economy. We are pleased to have the opportunity to give back to the community of Aniak and the residents of the Interior Rivers region in this way."

The Aniak Training Center will provide basic technology and computer training for regional residents, helping them acquire necessary job skills. It will serve residents of 13 villages in the middle Yukon-Kuskokwim River region. AT&T Alascom hosted a training center grand opening for the Aniak community on Sept. 28 where demonstrations of the technology and service were provided. AT&T Alascom staff took customer orders for high speed residential Internet service in Aniak.
